I had a mixed experience at Blackbeard's Lodge. The location was wonderful, making it easy to explore all the local shops and dining options. However, the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms left much to be desired, with filthy floors and issues like bugs. While the staff were generally friendly, the overall condition of the lodge isn't what I hoped for.

Rooms

Our room was old and well-worn, with filthy floors that made our feet black and sandy. We also found bugs and our second bathroom was locked when we arrived.
Service
6.0
The staff was friendly and housekeeping checked in daily, but it was frustrating that they initially locked us out of one of the bathrooms.

The lodge itself feels very outdated and would greatly benefit from a renovation. The air conditioning units were loud and smelled of mildew.

The lodge has seen better days, with many aspects in desperate need of repair and updating. While the island itself is beautiful and worth visiting, the accommodations left much to be desired. The strange room layout and loud air conditioners added to the discomfort of the stay. However, the location on the island is a plus, but it doesn't compensate for the overall experience at this lodge.

Rooms

The room had a strange layout, a loud air conditioner, and outdated furnishings, making it uncomfortable. There's little in terms of comfort with springs felt through the futon.

We had a lovely stay with our dogs at this hotel, enjoying clean and spacious accommodations that felt welcoming. The annex room was perfect for pet owners, providing easy access to the outdoors. However, the noise from the hallway could be bothersome, and some amenities like the fridge could use an upgrade to really enhance the experience.

Rooms

Our room in the annex was spacious and clean, featuring a separate area with bunk beds, which was wonderful for accommodating our pets.

I appreciated the complimentary coffee available each morning and the friendly atmosphere, though specific staff interactions weren't highlighted.

The game room was a nostalgic touch, and I loved that there were picnic tables available for outdoor dining, but it would be great if there were more grills or kitchen options.

I was really looking forward to my stay at this hotel, especially being pet-friendly, but I was quite disappointed. While the place had nice aspects like cleanliness and a great game room, the overall comfort, especially in terms of heating and noise, was lacking. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the area. However, we struggled with some cleanliness issues and room conditions that left much to be desired.

Rooms

My stay had its ups and downs. I truly appreciated the beautiful island and the charming aspects of the antique hotel, but I was let down by the uncomfortable room setup and the lack of cleanliness. The staff was attentive and offered useful local tips, which I found helpful. Overall, I enjoyed the island experience but would not stay at this lodge again due to the room conditions.
